DCS Troubleshooting: Crank But No Start

Powers and grounds:

  • Perform a thorough inspection of wiring connections.
  • Verify battery cables and wires are in place and ground connections are connected to clean metal surfaces.

Fuel system inspection:

  • It is best practice to follow the service manual diagnostics of the engine you have installed for fuel related issues.
  • Confirm you are getting fuel to the fuel pump. If you are not getting fuel to the fuel pump, check the tank fuel level. Verify there are no restrictions in the fuel feed and return lines.
  • On older systems you may be able to crack open an injector feed line to assist in the priming process, but do not do this on a common rail system.
  • Some systems are sensitive to no fuel situations due to the reliance of fuel to lubricate internal components. Ensuring the system is primed is crucial to the life of these components.
