DCS Troubleshooting: OBDII Inoperable
Ford ® OBDII
- Plug in the scan tool to OBDII port. If the scan tool lights up, you have B+ power and ground to the OBDII port.
- Inspect OBDII pins for wear. It is not uncommon for pins to be worn out at the OBDII port, which could be the cause of no communication.
- Verify that the PCM connector is properly connected. Inspect for faults in the harness.
- Verify B+ power, key on power, and ground at the PCM.
Cummins® OBDII
- Plug in the scan tool to OBDII port. If the scan tool lights up, you have B+ power and ground to the OBDII port.
- Perform a visual inspection of the OBDII port pin and wiring harness.
- Verify that the ECM connector is properly connected, inspect for faults in the harness.
- Verify B+ power, key on power, and ground at the PCM.
