DCS Troubleshooting: Tachometer Inoperable or Jumpy
- Check the crankshaft sensor condition and connections.
- The sensor to tach ring gap may need to be adjusted. This gap may vary depending on your specific application. For example, the ideal gap is 0.050" on our common rail crankshaft sensor bracket for the 6.0L Ford® conversion.
- Verify pin locations and perform a visible inspection of connector ends. If no visible faults are found, then ohm wires.
- If using the Swaphelper.com Tach Helper, is the red power light illuminated at key on? If not, there is no key on power to the module.
- If using the Swaphelper.com Tach Helper, is the yellow light illuminated when engine is running? If not, there is no input signal being received.
